(6) Superheroes and Supervillians
August 16th, 2019
Hello, welcome back! The topic for today will be about superheroes and supervillains from the comics, movies, video games and listing 2 of each, which are my favourite and why I like them. Let's dive right into todays discussion. PSA: If you have not seen Endgame, you have been warned. In one of the pictures for the superheroes the link gives away one of the small spoilers from the movie.
Supervillains: ?
"I am inevitable." Does this quote ring any bells? Or when this villain said, " I know what it's like to lost. To Feel so desperately that you're right, yet to fall nonetheless. It's frightening. Turns the legs to jelly. I ask you, to what end? Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same. And now, it's here. Or should I say, I am." If you haven't guessed already from the picture above and the quotes, I'm referring to Thanos. To be honest, this villain popped up on my radar because of the Marvel Studios movies that featured him throughout the movie series. He made his presence felt wherever he was in the universe. His Infinity gauntlet that he weld gave superheros a very difficult time. There are 6 infinity stones make the gauntlet powerful beyond measure, these stones included: the blue Space stone, red Reality stone, purple Power stone, yellow Mind stone, green Time stone, and the orange Soul stone. Why is Thanos one of my favourite villains? His confidence, power for example how he was able to spar with the Hulk and beat him up, leaving the Hulk in a vulnerable state, in Avengers Infinity War. Also because of his sheer will and determination to continue to fight for his vision to wipe out half of life in the universe.
?
I really really like Venom. His witty remarks, one of Spider-mans arch nemesis and ally at times, he is an interesting character to say the least. Has the same abilities as Spider-man but, what separates them both is that Spider-man was gifted with his abilities when he was bitten by a radio-active spider at a science experiment while Eddie Brock bonded with a symbiote and became Venom. This villain is cool to me because I introduced early into Venom when I played a Spider-man Video game on Playstation 1 that I will never forget. Here is a picture of the game below.
This video game is one of my favourite video games of all time. Really made me fall in love with video games. The dialogue and storyline had me hooked from the start. Especially how Venom played a key role in saving the world. Oops spoilers. Well, in the video game towards the beginning (to provide a little context) Spider-man finds out his wife Mary Jane Parker is kidnapped by Venom, they fight and then Venom and Spider-man work together to save the world from Doc- Oc, Carnage, Mysterio, and Rhino.
Superheroes
(Thor)
Thor. Son of Oden. I love how He "glowed up" (pun intended) in Endgame. If you know you know. His story endures a lot of pain, hardship, and determination that made it appealing to me and made me appreciate his character growth as a member of the Avengers. In the Marvel movies, I love the way Chris Hemsworth portrays Thor. From his dialogue to all the breath taking fight scenes with different bad guys, its a treat to see him take Thor to a whole new level of stardom and fame which I can appreciate as well as other marvel fans can also. Why Thor? I'll tell you why, because of my favourite Thor featured film, Thor Ragnarok. The film was out of this world. Action packed. Funny. Compelling story line. This was the beginning of why I came to appreciate Thor and all the heavy lifting and charisma he has.
Spider-man Spider-man:
If you didn't know, Spider-man is my favourite hero of all time. From the classic theme song. To the comic books that I have collected over the years, to Uncle Ben's famous quote, "With great power, comes great responsibility." Spider-man is a beast. Spider-man needs no introduction. When Spider-man was introduced in Captain America: Civil War, I was crying tears of joy and super duper Hyped. Jumping over everyone and webbing slinging Captain America's shield. Oh my goodness. That was crazy. That was awesome. That is a Marvel movie moment that I'll keep in my archives. A movie that made me grow even more closely with spider-man was when Spider-man Into the Spider-Verse dropped in theatres. I remember watching that movie a total of 3 or 4 times with friends and family. Also the most recent Spider-man, Far From Home was a nice way to bring events up to speed post Endgame. Spider-man in my eyes could do no wrong. He never quits. Fights for truth and justice and will always try his best to make the best of out of a bad situation or even save the day on several ocassions.
I don't know if you've noticed but, for these villains and heroes that I mentioned today in this blog, they were mostly Marvel influenced. That was not on purpose. I think maybe, just maybe I would do a Friday edition featuring DC villains and heroes but, with a twist on what I write on. Todays post has come to a close, Thank you for reading! My question for you, do you have a favourite hero or villain? Why do you like them? I hope you all enjoyed todays blog, stay tuned for Mondays post.
So until next time..
this is..
